An indigo colored 17 foot high stellated dodecahedron constructed of plywood, wood and steel with an open interior space accessible to participants. This space will be able to accommodate people to experience the Portal and to interact in other group activities, such as the Galactivation Sound Healing ceremonies that were hosted at the Sapphire Portal last year.

Housed within the stellated dodecahedron will be the Quasar Wave Transducer: a subsonic non-linear dynamic analog feedback device sound sculpture that produces frequencies in the range of the Earth’s Schumann resonance and human brain waves to activate the Portal experience. This has been contained in all previous Portals and a new refined version is planned for this year. There will be purple LED lighting for illumination at night. The lights and sound will be powered by sets of deep cycle batteries that are recharged by a bank of solar panels located at the Portal Collective camp.

In keeping with the progression of the placement of each new Portal, it will be located at 2:22 between the Esplanade and the Man. This is the first time a Portal will be located within the city making it much more accessible than the previous ones that were located quite a distance out.

The Amethyst Portal is colored indigo to relate to the brow or third eye chakra and the geometry follows the forms incorporated in the other Portals by utilizing the stellated dodecahedron:

A three dimensional structure based on Nassim Haramein’s discovery of basic underlying geometric principles that govern the way the physical universe manifests. It is comprised of 64 equilateral tetrahedrons arranged in a cube (a tetrahedron is the simplest of the 5 platonic solids, composed of 4 equilateral triangles). It is both a fractal cuboctahedron and star tetrahedron. There is a cuboctahedron at the very center surrounded by one twice its size. There are also 8 star tetrahedrons all touching at the center that make up the total shape of a star tetrahedron that is twice their size as well as the filled in edges that completes the outer cuboctehedron.
A cuboctahedron (or vector equilibrium as Buckminster Fuller named it because all the central radiating vectors are the same length as the outer encircling vectors, creating equilibrium) is composed of 8 inward pointing tetrahedrons. The star tetrahedron is composed of 8 outward pointing tetrahedrons surrounding a central octahedron. This complementary pairing creates a balance between the radiating and contracting principles that govern all manifestation.

I was invited to design an interactive structure for the 4 day multi-media event “Habitats” held in the Lyceum in Brooklyn, NY. I designed and built the Abridged Merkaba based on the concept of the Merkaba, or light body vehicle, that is in the shape of a star tetrahedron. A 48 foot star tetrahedron that fills the Lyceum is deconstructed into three outlying tetrahedrons that are segments of the upward pointing one to provide multi-function spaces available for participants to utilize and a central section of the downward pointing one to accommodate presenters and their audio visual equipment. These sections will imply the whole star tetrahedron, or Merkaba. It was built out of 2×4s, recycled fabric, paint and particle board.

The Emerald Portal was inspired by Richard Leviton’s book “The Emerald Modem: A User’s Guide to the Earth’s Interactive Energy Body”. In it he describes a cube that relates to both a person’s and the Earth’s energy bodies:
The Cube of Space is a cosmic jewel: a six sided, double terminated lovely green Emerald bigger than the entire planet and placed around it as a kind of master energy field.
The Emerald is also the Heart within the Heart, midway between the outer and inner heart chakras in the human. It is the place where the “Ultimate Divine” resides in each human.. It is pure consciousness beyond space and time, transcending the Mind. Picture a double-terminated, two-inch-long crystal
positioned vertically, at the right side of the sternum and you give yourself
access to this arcane Heart.
The Cube of Space is the totality of the earth’s geomantic body; we carry it
within us as the Emerald, and this same Emerald or Cube of Space is the
structure of reality”
Starting with a small paper model of a cube, I created the Emerald Portal through a series of cuts and taping the pieces. Once the form was created with flat surfaces, it was also realized as the outline form of the edges, providing a clearer understanding of the geometry it encompasses. Within the cube pointed corner up, truncated at its lower three vertices, is a cuboctahedron, incorporating the relationship of the 90 degree three dimensional coordinate system of cubes with the 60 degree three dimensional coordinate of tetrahedrons and octahedrons.
Both versions were built for 2006 as 8 foot cubes, one out of plywood and the other out of square steel tubing, and returned in 2008. Following in line with the Diamond Portal’s placement at 11:11, they were located at 12:12 on the Burning Man clock plan. The intent of these sculptures is to catalyze a personal connection to the Emerald within the participant’s heart and to facilitate a connection between participants and the Earth and Galaxy’s energy bodies.

The Diamond Portal is a shape that I thought of in 1984 , but only decided to build for Burning Man 2004 as a 16 foot tall sculpture. As Burning Man is laid out in a radial plan based on a clock, it was located at 11:11, a synchronistic activation code. The design utilizes the golden ratio and heart chakra colors. Being built in Taos, NM is an integral part of its significance. Inside of it is a solar powered version of the Quasar Wave Transducer sound sculpture: a subsonic nonlinear dynamic analog feedback device vibrating with low frequency pulsations that resonate with the Earth, the Portal and the people in and around it, to activate the dimensional shift. The Diamond Portal is a key to shifting the Earth to the next vibrational dimension that we are moving towards. It is an interactive sculpture that requires participation by sitting in its cylindrical opening or leaning on its face to fully experience it and Burning Man is the ideal venue for it.
For Burning Man 2005 the original Diamond Portal was rebuilt after being extensively damaged in a windstorm in Taos, New Mexico, and a new outline version was built out of steel tubing the golden ratio smaller, about 10 feet high. The outline was placed the golden ratio between the original Portal and the Burning Man. The original Portal was burnt in the Temple of Dreams fire the last Sun. night of the event.

The Sapphire Portal was inspired by concepts in The Emerald Modem: A Users Guide to the Earth’s Interactive Energy Body (2004). Author Richard Leviton describes etheric “blue dishes” under all sacred sites that collect subtle cosmic energies and distribute them into the earth and atmosphere. For Burning Man 2007 I designed a sky blue dish 61 feet in diameter and 9 1/2 feet high with sky blue carpet to physically manifest this idea while providing an environment of floating in the sky. In the center are three geometric forms that embody Leviton’s concept of an aspect of the Earth’s energy body evolving from its current geometric form to an icosidodecahedron. I built a half dodecahedron that houses the Quasar Wave Transducer sound sculpture that produces low frequency vibrations in the range of brain waves and earth resonance, and a half icosidodecahedron steel frame covered in stainless steel mirror triangles. These two shapes are shaded by a half icosahedron steel frame covered in aluminet shade cloth so that one may experience these shapes both day and night. A 30 foot section facing east was opened during sunrise. The Sapphire Portal acted as a personal, planetary and galactic vibrational alignemnent environment, providing profound experiences for many participants.
